Riding his first hard track meeting for a couple of years, Andy cam about mid table in the regional champiosnhips which this year was run as an omnium consisting of a 2 lap time trial, a devil, sprint and 20 lap scratch race. He recorded 1.11.81 in the TT and 6th in the Devil which meant he was in the 9th-12th ride off in the sprint where he was pipped on the line for the win. In the scratch, a Welwyn rider went from the start and no one wanted to chase except Andy who was then brought back. Another two riders slipped away and again Andy chased for several laps until being recaught by the bunch and eventually ended up in 12th spot and 11th overall in the omnium.
